5th Aurangabad International Film Festival will take place from 18th to 21st January 2018 at INOX multiplex, Prozone Mall, Aurangabad in which best of the feature films from India and other countries will be screened in presence of many artists, filmmakers and technicians.

The objectives of Aurangabad IFF
The festival aims to showcase the best of film produced recently and in the past, in India and other parts of the world, to the city of Aurangabad and its film buffs. This festival is a platform for aspiring filmmakers, technicians, artists and young film enthusiasts to encourage them to learn and understand artistic as well as technical aspects of cinema. This festival also aims to be a medium to project to project Aurangabad and Marathwada internationally as the city and region for many opportunities of film production hub, cultural centre in state of Maharashtra.
AIFF aspires to promote tourism of the region among Indian and international tourists and to create a networking centre for local talents from Marathwada region to connect with filmmakers, film scholars, technicians from India and abroad. AIFF also aims to highlight and promote Marathi cinema nationally and globally.

Indian Film Competition:
5th AIFF is being organized for four days, with variety of programmes catered to its audience. This year the festival is introducing an Indian Competition, a competitive section of contemporary Indian feature-fiction films. Nine films in different Indian languages for many awards including the top prize of Best Film which carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh! This competition will be adjudged by an international jury. This jury is headed by veteran filmmaker Vikas Desai (Mumbai), film scholar and critic Saibal Chatterjee (New Delhi). Other members of jury are Prof. Amy Amy Catlin-Jairazbhoy, Ph.D., Department of Ethnomusicology, UCLA (USA), playwright Prof. Ajeet Dalvi (Aurangabad) and film scholar Sujata Kango (Aurangabad).

Opening Ceremony:
The opening ceremony of 5th Aurangabad IFF will be held on Thursday 18th January 2018 at 6:00 pm in INOX (Prozone Mall). Celebrated filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar and ever-young actress Mrinal Kulkarni are the chief guests of the function. Festival’s opening ceremony will be followed by the screening of festival’s opening film Rukh, in presence of its director Atanu Mukherjee. Film’s cast includes Manoj Bajpeyee and Smita Tambe.

Closing Ceremony & Lifetime Achievement Award:
The closing ceremony of the festival will take place on Sunday 21st January 2018 at 7:00 pm, wherein jury will announce the awards in Indian Competition section. The awards will be presented to the winners by chief guest of the function, internationally acclaimed filmmaker Padmavibhushan Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The popular actor-director of Hindi and Marathi cinema Amol Palekar will be felicitated by Adoor Gopalakrishnan this evening with a Lifetime Achievement award.

Delegate registrations for 5th AIFF will open from 6th January 2018 at 1) INOX multiplex, Prozone Mall, 2) Nirmik Group, opp. Vyankatesh Mangal Karyalay, Sutgirni Road, 3) Vishal Opticals, Nirala Bazaar, 4) Mahatma Gandhi Bhavan, near Govt Liabrary, Samarth Nagar, 5) Hotel Swaad, Usmanpura, 6) Hotel Naivedya, CIDCO bus stand, 7) Saket Book World, Aurangpura, 8) Jijau Medicals, T.V. Centre. Registration / catalogue fee is Rs. 300/- (for general public) and Rs. 150/- (for students and senior citizens). The festival registration opens world of artistic cinema to its audience.

The organizers invite the people from Aurangabad and Marathwada to participate in this important cultural event taking place in city of Aurangabad. All the film-buffs and art-lovers from this region are requested to attend the 5th Auranagabad International Film Festival from 18th to 21st January 2018!

 

Master Class and Seminar:
Besides the film screenings, festival will also organize other academic activities during these four days.  A Master Class by Hansal Mehta will be held on 19th January in Inox for select students, researchers of cinema.  Festival will screen films by Hansal Mehta in a special Retrospective section.

A seminar will be organized on 20th January on the subject of ‘मराठी चित्रपट आणि जागतिक व्यासपीठ (Marathi Cinema on Global Platform).  A panel of expert speakers in this seminar includes film & theatre director Chandrakant Kulkarni, filmmaker Sumitra Bhave (Kaasav), filmmaker Sandeep Sawant (Shwaas), filmmaker Kranti Kanadé (CRD) and writer-director Milind Lele.

Participation of filmmakers and artists, interaction with them:
The film directors, artists, technicians of Indian films in competition will be attending the festival and will participate in post-screening Q&A session.  Dr. Mohan Agashe (actor-producer), Irawati Harshe (actor), Mangesh Desai (actor), Upendra Limaye (actor), Alok Rajwade (actor), Girish Mohite (filmmaker), Sandhya Gokhle (writer), and many other personalities will be attending the festival.

Poster Exhibition:
The 5th Aurangabad IFF will pay tribute to the legendary actor-producer Shashi Kapoor.  An exhibition of 50 posters of his films will be open for festival delegate and public at Prozone Mall.  This exhibition is being organized is association with National Film Archives of India, Pune.
This poster exhibition will also feature a separate section of Indian films which have won the prestigious Golden Lotus award at National Film Awards over the years.

Film Appreciation Workshop:
The festival organizers are conducting film appreciation workshops in ten select colleges in Aurangabad and encourages students from colleges in Aurangabad and surrounding places to participate in this festival by registering as delegates.
