Instead of improving its Swachh Bharat ranking by ensuring a robust mechanism for cleaning the city, Aurangabad Municipal Corporation is focusing on increasing the number of downloads of its Swachhata-MoHUA app.
App usage is one of the criteria based on which the Swachh Sarvekshan (cleanliness survey) rewards points. The AMC is hoping to reach its target of securing 25,000 downloads in two days i.e by Dec 31 in order to achieve the target of Swacchata App. Currently AMC is short of 4000 downloads, the Government has given a target of 25000 download, while the AMC has, so far recorded 21000.
All civic officials have been directed to download and promote the app on war footing as this will help the AMC score more points in the survey. All civic officials have been directed to download and promote the app, as well as report garbage nuisances in the city. Civic officials claim that increased citizen feedback will improve the civic body’s ranking.
What is Swachhata-MoHUA App ?
The Swachhata-MoHUA is the official app of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs(MoHUA), GOI. The app enables a citizen to post a civic-related issue (eg; a garbage dump) which is then forwarded to the city corporation concerned and thereafter assigned to the sanitary inspector of the particular ward. Officials are bound to resolve citizens’ complaints within 24 hours once the complaint is registered.
How does it work?
Take a picture of the Civic-related issue using your smart phone, and post it in one of the following categories.
・Garbage vehicle not arrived
・Dustbins not cleaned
・Sweeping not done
・Public toilet(s) cleaning
・Public toilet(s) blockage
・No water supply in public toilet(s)
・No electricity in public toilet(s)
The app will capture the location while the picture is being taken. Just type in the landmark of the complaint location. The complaint will then be assigned to the concerned sanitary inspector/engineer.
You can also vote up on any other complaint relevant to you. You will get regular updates on status of the complaint in the form of a push notification with the ‘Resolved’ image uploaded by the assigned sanitary inspector/engineer.
You can also reopen the complaint if you are not satisfied with the resolution of the complaint.
