Lamborghini might invest in Maharashtra for electric vehicle development; Shendra, Chakan in race

Italian exotic car manufacturer Lamborghini might be setting its base for EVs in Maharashtra. Sanjay Sethi, chief executive officer, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation commented that the company is looking at making an investment in the state.

Sethi added that Lamborghini has host of plans for electric vehicles and is likely to announce its plans on this topic shortly. While the location of setting up base has still not be discussed, the carmaker has shown interest to do that in Maharashtra, commented Subhash Desai, State Industries Minister.

Volkswagen group already has base in Maharashtra at Chakan and in Aurangabad where they manufacture and assemble Volkswagen, Skoda and Audi cars. If Lamborghini too will use the same setup or make fresh investment at a new location is something that will come out only after the talks reach the final stage. Desai also commented that the government is now aware if Lamborghini will be tying up with a local manufacturer for the EV setup.
