Aurangabad airport has already been cleared for operating international flights from SAARC countries like Sri Lanka and such scheduled International Flights can now be operated from Aurangabad based on the interest of the respective airlines, said, Ankur Garg an official in the Minister of Civil Aviation.
He made the above remarks during a follow up meeting that was held between Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA) delegation and Ministry of Civil Aviation on June 12, 2018 to discuss issues related to Aurangabad Airport in detail.
Earlier, CMIA delegation met Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Civil Aviation, Commerce and Industry, Government of India during his visit to Aurangabad.
The issues pertaining to airport including improving Domestic Air-Connectivity, introducing international flights from Aurangabad airport, introducing international cargo facility at Aurangabad Airport and expansion of Aurangabad airport were discussed during the meeting.
In view of this, it was decided to schedule follow up meeting in Delhi with the concerned senior officers of the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
International airlines such as ‘Fly Dubai’ have shown interest for operating flights connecting to Aurangabad, Garg added.
He also informed that all required permissions from Govt. of India are now in place for commencing International Cargo facility at Aurangabad Airport.
Operations for International Cargo Facility would commence after appointment of competent officials for handling International Cargo Service at Aurangabad Airport, Garg pointed.
Required machinery and material handling equipment would be installed at Aurangabad airport very soon and airport authority of India is making the required arrangements for the same, he added.
For improving ‘Domestic Connectivity’ at Aurangabad Airport, a detailed meeting of all concerned senior officials would be convened at Delhi along with the stakeholders during the month of July,2018.
